Thomas Porcher Stoney, II, is a lawyer with thirty-two years of experience in residential and commercial real estate transactions, development, and financing and is accomplished in a wide variety of other fields of law. A third generation lawyer, Tom received the Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of the South at Sewanee, Tennessee, in 1970, and the Juris Doctor degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1974; was admitted to practice in South Carolina in 1974; and was honored to have served in the U.S. Naval Reserve as a pilot trainee in 1970 and 1971.

As an experienced trial and office lawyer, Tom has long been dedicated to continuing legal education and professional development, serving for nineteen years on the South Carolina Bar Continuing Legal Education Committee, eight years on the Institutional Review (human research) Board of the Medical University of South Carolina, and twenty-one years on the Board of Directors and eighteen years as the corporate Treasurer of the Neighborhood Legal Assistance Program, which provided free civil legal services to indigent clients. A South Carolina Supreme Court Certified Circuit Court Mediator, Arbitrator and Family Court Mediator, Tom taught mediation certification courses for the bar. Tom also taught Criminal Justice at the college level at Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, North Carolina; through the North Carolina Community College System in Morganton, North Carolina; and at Trident Technical College in Charleston, South Carolina.

A long time public speaker, master of ceremonies, and announcer, Tom has served as president and officer of numerous civic, charitable, and social organizations, has received many honors for such service, and continues to remain active in the same. After having spent nearly six years as a state attorney prosecuting child and adult abuse and neglect cases in civil court with more than nine hundred court appearances per year and winning two precedent setting South Carolina Supreme Court appeals, Tom is limiting his practice to real estate, probate, estate planning, and general business matters with a statewide practice headquartered in the Charleston, South Carolina, area.
